Appaloosa was one of the last colors that the miniature horse industry was able to miniaturize and our miniature appaloosas are noted throughout the world for being some of the most colorful, correct and small appaloosas. We bred our first appaloosa miniature in 1986 with Little America’s Sesquicentennial Tex, “Tex.” When he was old enough to breed, we searched and bought as many roan mares 30″ and under that we could find that had pretty heads and good conformation to breed to Tex. Even though he had only app breeding on one side, he threw almost 45% appaloosa coloring in his foals. At the same time many breeders interested in appaloosas were using Pony of America (POA) mares and taking several generations to reduce the size to where we were able to succeed in one generation. Now that our program is in its maturity after forty years, we have developed many snowcap blanket colts which will throw color with every foal. Pick out that special one out of our large selection. Pintaloosas have also been very popular since Orion-Light Van’t Huttenest came into the breed. You can read all about him and his legacy in our Historical Stallions pages.
