Little Americas Secret Dee Marathon

We have been waiting for this colt for too too long, like a Marathon.  The stallions were taken out of the breeding pastures one year and three weeks ago.  We decided that Kristen was having a false pregnancy.  About 35 years ago we had one that got very big, had lots of milk and even waxed.  She was one that constatngly set off the foaling alert, but we didn’t have cameras back then so I finally got so sick of running out to the barn that we decided it was a false pregnancy, although we had never seen one before.  So we turned her out, and believe it or not, 14 months later she had a foal.  For those of you who are novices, gestation for a horse is usually about 11 months 5 days.  In other words, she was not pregnant the months she kept me up, but got pregnant after we turned her out.  We decided that was the case with Kristen.  So today we turned her out in a pen with the last foal and dam and the stallion that we had hoped to breed her to.  He started bothering her, and about six hours later Armando called me and said,”Do you want to come out and see the new foal?  I was amazed and pleased to see this extremely ususual speckled face, one white ear, one black eared little Pintaloosa colt.  The longest we have ever taken for a foal that I can recall.

Kristen’s dam, Little America’s Struttin’ Baubles, was the AMHA Honor Roll Champion in 2004 and was only shown a short while but earned the Honor Roll buckle and over 12 champion and reserves during her short career.  Her full sister produced the AMHA World Reserve Champion weanling filly 27″ & Under in 2025.  Little America’s Bucksupreme Sparkey.

The sire of this colt is one of Lauren’s favorites and is her all purpose versatile show horses who has won many local high point awards and two Woelr Reserves.  His sire is one of the top driving horses in the nation, Silver Meadow’s Phantom Storm.
