We had just gotten home about four hours before Armando called and said, “We are having a baby.” He had come to the barn about an earlier from a trip to Walmart and his wife Nancy was watching the mares on her phone. She wanted to stay in the car and watched and saw that Amber was looking very restless. She told Armando that she looked like she was close to going into labor, so they came straight home and to the barn where they put on a beeper. Nancy said she wanted to watch and about an hour later Armando called. We celebrated this one on Tony’s mother’s 99th heavenly birthday and our excellent show in Belton.
About twenty minutes later, he was able to get the foal out and what a great surprise! Such a colorful colt.
Damsel is a beautiful mare with four white socks and tremendous action. She is a granddaughter of one of the outstanding driving champions of the breed, Silver Meadow’s Phantom Storm. So being by Guinness, this foal is bred to be about a sure bet for a champion performance horse as possible.
